One More Story About Alafia Elementary

Alafia principal keeps her job for now

Thanks for the tip from anon. Anon says I hit the nail on the head. We will have to wait a while to see if I my prediction on how the parents will feel later.

Low on time resources, so there may be more to this story I haven't seen yet.

Find link below to what the nail was that I hit on the head:

"Here is my prediction. They will develop a team of district people and targeted parents. They will hold a set number of meetings. The District will be in control of all paperwork regarding the recording of all of the meetings. The first meeting will be to bring out all of the problems. Emotions will be kept in check as this is 'just the information gathering phase, and emotions get in the way of positive outcomes'. The District will take this information and synthesis it into 4 areas. The District will identify the problem areas 'based on information gathered', and bring it back to the group. The group will then be subdivided so that the parents are divided. These sub-groups will hash out the emotional aspects of 'the issues'. The next meeting will be where the District 'brings to the whole group' a breakdown of how the issues were decided upon. There will be a 'discussion' and a 'consensus' will be 'agreed upon' by all. The final outcome will be that the problem was taken care of and 'everyone' is in agreement. It won't be until later on that the parents figure out they were snookered, but the official paperwork and 'official decision that the parents agreed to' will be on record."

By the way, this may be the last of any media reports of anything negative about HCPS:

This is just appalling. The principal was abusing her power EVEN DURING THE ASSESSMENT.

Here is a comment from the Tribune blog:

I witnessed the Assessment Team's process at Alafia first-hand and this report just doesn't mesh with the facts. Team members were in tears as they listened to teachers share their experiences about the principal. Offers of prayer were made from team members to faculty. Comments from team members to parents like "that's grounds for dismissal all by itself" were not uncommon. Dozens and dozens of parents submitted signed letters or requested interviews with the team to share their concerns about the principal. One teacher had to be guarded by team members to prevent a feared disruption to a classroom activity that the principal was outraged about because it involved parent volunteers she didn't want on campus.Based on the surveys, the interviews, the letters, and the obviously toxic climate of the campus, no reasonable group of professionals could have concluded anything other than this principal must be removed. Of the 37 teachers (an almost unanimous number) who voiced major problems with Mrs. Smith, at least 22 indicated they would have to leave Alafia if she remained. Today they were told that they were free to do so. How little value the Superintendent puts on these fine teachers! It's shameful!Today's "report" was a short two pages of nonsense. It was obviously scripted by Mrs. Smith's cronies (particulalry Superintendent Elia) to protect her. Furthermore, at the meeting, the faculty was given essentially a gag order, instructing them to not discuss anything but academic matters with parents from now on. Can you imagine being told by your boss who you can and can't talk to and about what?!The Superintendent's office is trying to spin this situation as a group of parents and teachers who long for a return to the kinder, gentler administrations of Alafia's past. The only problem with that is that most of the parents involved have known only Mrs. Smith as Alafia's principal, and a large percentage of the unhappy teachers were hired by Smith herself. It just doesn't hold water. There's something VERY fishy about the outcome of this assessment. It simply cannot be allowed to stand.

Who was it that said "the parents will be left holding their angst"? Oh yes, it was you. Give the boy a prize.
