Effervescent Commentary By Goader

Goader always puts information in perspective.

EsKay » Outsider… Not

There is no workings of the District that is or should be isolated from the whole. What effects one part effects another.

For those who are entrenched with the issues of Alafia Elementary, Goader offers another perspective and other challenges.

It's always interesting to see Goader's take on things.

For my part, I do not trust the intentions of anyone in the "system" right now. The rose-colored glasses are off. I now try to decipher whether statements are disinformation and "actions" are ploys.

Alafia has become a window into the soul of Hillsborough County Public Schools.

You mean I am no longer an isolated incident of a broad-brush-attack mal-content?

As someone once said, too many of us see history from our own life perspective.

What we face has been there all along.

While I wait for a reponse, I just couldn't help remembering that even our local media does not trust the intentions of our local education agency.

Harken back:

"Instead of treating parents' questions with respect, they obfuscate or cavalierly dismiss them."

No Richard, you are a discontent. A spreader of false information.

I have to hand it to Steve. I believe he has decided that the best approach it to be direct and fearless.

Richard, ABSOLUTELY there have been problems all along. But as long as the administration was able to isolate the incidents, they could maintain control. That is what they have been trying unsuccessfully to do at Alafia(read the assessment and action plan and see how they do this).
This event has brought the cronyism into center stage, has made folks aware of all the intimidating practices that have been going on, and has revealed the dishonest ways of the administration.
Yes, what Alafia faces has been there all along. Now that the systemic problem is being revealed, what's next?

I must say I grasped hold of the concept that public exposure was the Achilles heal of the local education agency back in the mid 90's. There were distinctive signs of evidence I noted back then.

It has taken more than 10 years to get to this point.

In response to anon 8:27, I do have a question regarding the assessment.

On page 8, there are two sections regarding expectations - some that are met and some that are below.

I can't grasp that if part 3.0 of "met" expectations is present, how can 1.0 be present in the "below" section.

Comparing and contrasting those two sections alone is a bit challenging.

The problem is you're trying to make sense of a senseless report. Your prediction for the assessment was pretty accurate. They took a pretty simple situation, broke it into parts, and clouded the picture. I have no doubts about "facilitators" being used to arrive at a preset outcome. I wonder if anyone on the team feels duped.

On page 220, Guideline 27

It appears that a service that is not used and the counselor is absent - but

it meets expectations.

That may say more than we realize.
