All Quiet On The Eastern Front

There is an old adage that no news is good news. A cynical old man in the sea such as myself wonders if the messenger was bumped off. Or co-opted.

I heard the sounds of kumbaya wafting over the air.

Time will tell, and it is what it is.

Certainly it is quiet.

Many have been pacified.

Only a few remain on alert.

But a few DO remain.

Most are probably busy with the approaching holiday.

Keep posting.

We are listening.

The parent meeting was less hostile this time, but I'm proud to report that we DID separate welcoming our new leader from challenging the Superintendent's failures.

Elia had to do quite a bit of "sidestep shuffling" (as it was called in the old "Best Little Whorehouse" movie). With every new challenge from a parent, she rambled endlessly, bobbing and weaving and saying nothing at all.

I'm happy to report that the slippery superintendent didn't walk away unscathed. It was much more "gentile" this time, but she was definitely challenged as to why it took so long to see that there was a problem with the principal, why it took so long to act once she knew there was a problem, and what she is going to do to ensure that situations like this do not continue to happen in this County. She was not a happy camper.

The only Kumbaya moments were between the parents and the new principal. There was absolutely no love for Elia at Alafia. [By the way, note to Elia: ALAFIA ends with a short A vowel sound. We are not Alafi. At least give us the respect of knowing how to pronounce our name. You'll likely be hearing from us again. When is your contract up for renewal?]

Finally, a note of encouragement that demonstrates the months of anguish were not for nought.

Only with continued focus on processes will the public be able to keep the public into the public school system.
